2025 Summer Internships

SCADA Engineer Intern

Urban Grid is looking for a motivated SCADA Engineer Intern to assist the Engineering Department. The SCADA Intern will be involved with learning and executing roles for aspects of utility-scale solar projects related to SCADA, including project documentation, scheduling, process documentation, project controls, project coordination, etc. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the solar industry and contribute to meaningful projects throughout the United States. Grid is seeking a self-managed team-player with excellent technical skills to support projects from development to the beginning of construction.

Project Planner Intern

As a Project Planning intern, you will learn from the project controls team on aspects of managing the planning & scheduling aspects of utility scale solar projects. This role works with project managers, site managers, project developers, EPC contractors and key vendors to develop, monitor and manage project schedules. The role involves coordinating and doing all planning & scheduling activities from conception to completion.

Economic & Community Development Intern

We are currently seeking an Intern to be a part of the Economic & Community Development team at Urban Grid. The Economic & Community Development team is a dynamic group who supports our project communities, developers and project stakeholders through research, grass-roots initiatives, outreach, strategic partnerships and community events and activities.

Contracts & Procurement Intern

We are currently seeking an Intern to be a part of the Contracts & Procurement team at Urban Grid. The Contracts & Procurement Intern will be able to improve contract visibility, streamline reporting and standardize procurement data management. This position will be a part of providing strategic insights into supplier trends, technology advancements, and market shifts to enhance procurement and contracting strategies in the Solar Industry.

Project Delivery Intern

As a Project Delivery Intern, you will learn from the Project Delivery team to understand the successful delivery of our projects from late-stage development through Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC) contracting and construction, to completion and hand-off to Asset Operations Management. The Project Delivery Intern will experience working with cross-functional and multi-project team resources to ensure solutions are delivered on time and on budget according to defined scope, timeline, and cost parameters.

Reliability Engineer Intern

Urban Grid is looking for a motivated Reliability Engineer Intern to assist the Engineering Department in Photo Voltaic (PV) Solar System Electrical Design and supporting the Foundational goals of the Reliability Engineering team. Job duties include a range of administrative and technical tasks, including use of SCADA system to track daily equipment performance and assisting in evaluation of equipment failures.

Full Time Roles

Manager, IT Operations

The Manager, IT Operations is responsible for the daily operations of Urban Grid’s Information Technology ecosystem. This role serves a critical functional component of the Urban Grid IT team as well as the entire organization. The Manager, IT Operations is responsible for the reliable operation of IT systems located both on-premises as well as remote employee locations across the US. Core operational systems include all hardware, networking, cyber security, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Azure, and all business software systems. This role will manage a team of full time employees as well as third-party contractors and consultants engaged with Urban Grid for various IT projects and initiatives related to IT operations.

IT Technician

The IT Technician will perform first-line technical support duties in the Urban Grid Houston office. Primary duties include desk-side user support and general office IT support. The technician will receive and respond to user help requests for assistance with general hardware and software issues. The technician will also provide general office IT support including: troubleshooting conference room AV equipment issues, ancillary server room tasks, and overseeing the office electronic access control system. This role will interact and consult with the larger Information Technology team both in in-person and remote interactions. The IT Technician must have a strong technical knowledge in Microsoft-based user workstation equipment and operating systems and must possess a customer-oriented mindset to succeed in this position.

Director, Marketing & Communications

The Director, Marketing & Communications will lead our marketing and communications efforts. This role is pivotal in driving our brand’s narrative, expanding our market presence, and enhancing our stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience writing business communications and a proven track record of developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that align with business objectives.

Real Estate Counsel

We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Counsel to help support Urban Grid’s solar and energy storage projects. This role will be involved in all aspects of project acquisition, development, and financing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in real estate and land use for renewable energy projects.

Settlements Analyst

The Settlements Analyst is responsible for the settlement of energy trades in North America and long-term contracts, invoicing external customers, collaborating with their peers in a variety of processes such as recording accounting entries in the General Ledger, participating in Audit processes, regulatory reporting, liaising amongst other teams and supporting the growth and development of business.

Economic Development Manager

Urban Grid is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our team. The Economic Development Manager is a seasoned leader with experience in local community engagement activities relating to renewable energy. Reporting to the VP, Economic & Community Development, this individual will work to ensure that local government officials, key influencers and stakeholders are well informed of the economic benefits a utility-scale solar facility will bring to a rural community. The position supports numerous teams throughout the organization including land, project development and permitting. As part of the community engagement team, the Economic Development Manager will work to shepherd our projects toward completion.

Trading Analyst

Urban Grid is seeking a Trading Analyst to join our Structuring, Trading and Analytics team. Reporting to the Director of Structuring, Trading and Analytics, this role focuses on the trading activities related to our commercially operational assets. The successful candidate will provide critical analysis to support strategic decisions, ensuring the financial health and market competitiveness of our energy projects.

Contracts & Procurement Manager

Urban Grid is seeking a Contracts and Procurement Manager to play a critical role in managing the procurement, contracting, and supply chain operations related to the development and construction of solar energy projects. You will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, contracting, and managing the procurement and contracts responsibility related to our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) needs, ensuring that projects are developed and executed efficiently and cost-effectively.
